Day 6: Sun 12 Feb - HCM City to Da Lat, 33km

Temp: Hot & Humid in Saigon; cool & pleasant in Da Lat

Rather unusual to start a cycle tour with an airline flight but that’s what we did today. Saigon to Da Lat, flew out at 11am and was having lunch at a great vegetarian restaurant in Da Lat. Fantastic food after which we put on our cycling gear and headed out on the bikes. Of course Da Lat is one of the highest and hilliest places in the country so it was challenging on more than one occasion. However because we’re only riding 33km today everyone survived ok. Our ride finished outside the entrance to the local lookout perched at the top of a mountain.  Luckily we didn’t have to ride up but were driven up by Jeep. Due to all the haze and pollution we could not see that far. It was very cold so after a few pics I was scurrying back into the jeep.  Back on our mini-bus and taken to our mote; Royal Palace. Very nice indeed.
A quick shower and change then we were driven to dinner. It was one of those huge hot-pot joints with music that was far too loud and modern for my liking.  The food, as usual was fresh and delicious. Ken, Kev and I elected to walk home as we needed to help get rid of some of those calories. Kev was navigating and we did a little extra but it wasn’t far.  Nice to finally hit the sack after a long day.
